Accounts for resorts' snow quantity, moisture content, latitude, elevation, and slope aspects.
This score accounts for total snow quantity, its moisture content, the resort's latitude, elevation, and its slope aspects, which affect total snow preservation.
Moose Mt. has no detail snow data, but we accept the published average of 70 inches snowfall, as its interior Alaska location near Fairbanks is extremely cold and dry in winter. Deep powder is obviously rare.
Accumulation and PreservationAll the conventional ski area rules of thumb go out the window in interior Alaska. Any snow that falls will stick in the cold climate so Moose Mt. has a normal length ski season despite the modest snowfall. The south exposure is a positive due to better visibility and shelter from prevailing wind. The weak sun and cold temperatures should preserve packed powder conditions most of the season.
