Accounts for resorts' snow quantity, moisture content, latitude, elevation, and slope aspects.
This score accounts for total snow quantity, its moisture content, the resort's latitude, elevation, and its slope aspects, which affect total snow preservation.
Silver Star's 224 inches are about average for the Okanagan region. The expansive backside terrain has good powder potential and takes a long time to track out. However, the Putnam Creek base is on the low side at 3,600 feet.
Accumulation and PreservationSilver Star's intermediate front side should be fully open by Christmas in most seasons. Some of steeper Putnam Creek terrain will often take longer. Despite frontside south exposure, midwinter snow preservation is very good in the chronically overcast climate. The steeper backside runs face northeast for better snow preservation. Widespread melt/freeze conditions are likely in March if it is sunny. Silver Star like many resorts has its most reliable snow conditions from mid-January to mid-March.
